A Rant, Perhaps?

Hello, Friends.  Long time, no post…

I’ve been in somewhat of a funk the past few weeks.  I look at the political shenanigans that our elected officials have been up to, and it just doesn’t seem like it’s going to stop anytime soon.  I know that these clowns aren’t going to stop themselves, and I really have doubts that the American people can or have the willpower to put the brakes on our government’s constant intrusion into our lives.

First on the list is the rapid desertion of the political elite from ObamaCare because it would be a financial burden upon their staffs and themselves.  Really!?!?  So the rest of us are stuck paying for what YOU have enacted into law and then exempted yourselves from?

What is so reprehensible besides our politicians hanging the common person out to dry is that the well connected political supporters are being exempted as well.  Do you remember the outrage of the various Unions when they found out that ObamaCare will replace their health-care insurance coverage with something less comprehensive and more expensive?  The more and more exemptions that are granted means more and more of the costs will be borne by you and I.  But that doesn’t appear to be sinking in to various groups – all they see is this:

What we’re getting is this:

Furthermore, the politicians muck up almost everything they touch.  The delays implementing ObamaCare indicate that this is not legislation that was well-thought out.  But then again, what else could be expected from legislation that was over 1,000 pages long, had not been read before the vote, was passed by one political party without a vote from the other political party, and in the words of the then Speaker of the House, “We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it.”

Let’s be realistic:  The Federal Government is not charged with providing services like healthcare or phones to the People.  Quite frankly, it’s not even supposed to provide welfare or Social Security.  If you do not believe me, then kindly point it out in the Constitution or in the Amendments.

Next on the list is this – Do any of you remember this statement?

“I’m sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and disagree with this administration, somehow you’re not patriotic.  We need to stand up and say we’re Americans, and we have the right to debate and disagree with any administration.” – Hillary Clinton

Of course, Mrs. Clinton was speaking about President Bush’s administration, but isn’t it ironic that we now have an African-American in the highest office of the land, and any criticism of the President’s actions or comments are met with charges of racism?  I will state that politics is a dirty, dirty profession, but this tops the list of stupidity – there are only so many times the race card can be played before it loses it’s effectiveness.

But let us also consider the following (from the post Race Card Politics):

The Liberals and supporters of President Obama do understand that people, the ordinary citizens that elected them, are concerned about the issues, and no longer trust the politicians.  ….  We are seeing them for the political hacks that they are, and that their sycophants in the media are no better.  The change that was promised is coming from the citizens, and not from the empty promises made by the politicians.  And you know something – that scares the piss out of them because they are losing control!

Their response is to increase the number and frequency of racist accusations.  And we are getting pissed at them for doing it.  Playing the race card multiple times distracts and misdirects everyone away from the issues.  But it is losing its effect – the voters are catching on to this overuse of playing the race card directed at people with legitimate concerns.

We The People are angry at President Obama not for the color of his skin, but for the direction of the path that his policies and proposals are leading this country.  He knows it, his supporters know it, and yet they continue to play the race card indiscriminately.

While President Obama and his supporters are accusing their opponents of being racists, they are racist themselves.  Their words during the Professor Gates & Martin-Zimmerman incidents, and the lack of comments for the killings of an Australian student and a World War II veteran by African American teens is telling that they are not as color-blind as they would have us believe.  Indeed, they rush to one side of the story, and not the other.  That, my friends, is reprehensible as well as racist.

Last on my rant list for this post is the constant breaking of laws by our own government, particularly by the Administration.  Let’s take the following examples into consideration:

“No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.” – Amendment V, United States Constitution

However, four American citizens have been killed in drone strikes since 2009 without said due process of law.  One man, the President, has taken it upon himself to be judge, jury, and executioner.  Yes, these people were involved in terrorist activities.  However, it sets a dangerous precedent that a political official can order the death of any American citizen.  Yes, the Attorney General has stated that drone strikes would not be used domestically, but that’s now.  What about the future, and a so-called “emergency situation”?

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.” – Amendment IV, United States Constitution

The recent scandals over IRS and NSA intrusions into American’s privacy is cause enough for people to be wary of their government even before ObamaCare demands that our health-care information is to be released into government hands.  The questions asked of our personal lives and health to be placed into databases alongside our financial data is too much for me to be comfortable with.  We Americans have an expectation of privacy from our government.  However, the recent scandals of various personnel having access and using it for political persecution should concern every American enough to demand that such actions decease & desist with all collected information to be destroyed.

The Obama Administration has been picking and choosing which laws to enforce, and which to ignore.  I an email from the White House in response to an email sent over eight weeks ago concerning immigration reform.  Read this excerpt and tell me that this isn’t representative of this Administration enforcing only the laws that promote their political agenda:

On June 15, 2012, the Department of Homeland Security announced it would allow eligible young people who do not present a risk to our national security or public safety to apply for temporary relief from deportation proceedings and apply for work authorization.  This is not a path to citizenship, and it is not a permanent fix—only Congress can provide that.  It is a temporary measure to allow us to focus our resources wisely while giving a degree of relief and hope to talented, driven, and patriotic young people who are American in every way but on paper.

In other words, students who have outstayed their visas, or those who are otherwise in this country illegally, can stay in this country.  Just like the Boston Bombers, they can probably also end up on Welfare too…

Our freedoms are under assault by the power-hungry political elite.  Until more Americans wake up and understand that the politicians as a whole do not have the American’s peoples best interests first and foremost in their agendas, it will get much, much worse.
