I have noticed over the years that character assassination by the left is considered okay, even if they have to go back decades to find it, if it is used against the republicans, or the conservatives. Even against themselves in certain instances. But NEVER is it okay for a republican or a conservative to say anything against one of their guys, even if it’s true, and current. If that happens, then the law is brought in, or something worse.
The latest in this stream of going back decades to find something, even if it is irrelevant, came this last week with the Washington Post and their story about Mitt Romney in his high school days, bullying a gay person, John Lauber, and cutting his hair. Oh brother. It hasn’t even been determined yet if the guy was gay! He was, in all the descriptions of him that I have found effeminate at best, but that is not necessarily gay. He had the Flock of Seagulls look about him. But here is what has been printed about this. This being timed to hit the day after President Obama’s announced embrace of same-sex marriage, which the media has all wrong by the way, the story set the political world twittering.
“I always enjoyed his pranks,” said Stu White, a popular friend of Romney’s who went on to a career as a public school teacher and has long been bothered by the Lauber incident. (emphasis added)
Now that was the way the Washington Post originally printed that. But, in an interview with ABC News, the named person Stu White disowned that characterization, when he said that ‘while the Post reports White as having “long been bothered” by the haircutting incident,” he told ABC News he was not present for the prank, in which Romney is said to have forcefully cut a student’s long hair and was not aware of it until this year when he was contacted by the Washington Post.’
White being bothered for a long time over this??? The media in this moved back into their old tricks of fabricating something to make the person they want destroyed to pay the price. Hey folks, what about just a few years ago when Obama voted for infanticide while still a senator in Illinois, hmmmmmm? Of course, that gets no print!
A correction was demanded on this, and in the usual liberal *hide the salami cause it hasn’t been proven* move, instead of printing an apology for the misinformation, the Washington Post did what NO NEWSPAPER worth it’s reporting should have ever done. They made a stealth correction to its own article. It now reads,
“I always enjoyed his pranks,” said Stu White, a popular friend of Romney’s who went on to a career as a public school teacher and said he has been “disturbed” by the Lauber incident since hearing about it several weeks ago, before being contacted by The Washington Post. “But I was not the brunt of any of his pranks.” (emphasis added).
The Washington Post did not note anywhere that they had made any correction to the article. I have been in publishing for 36 years now, and this sickens me to think that my chosen profession in life has become such prostitutes to the left. Sorry, there is no other word for it.
Might I add this again? If this is so doggone important, then why isn’t Obama voting for killing a baby, when it was aborted and still alive, an issue? This whole deal of the democrats owning the right to assassinate the character of anyone who opposes them is nothing but glorifying trash, from a side that wants to bring everyone down to their level so they can win. Personally, I don’t want to be trash, even if they do.
But, as bad as this is, it gets worse. Christine Lauber, who is the sister of John Lauber, who was supposedly bullied by Romney and then had his hair cut by him, said she didn’t know anything about the bullying incident. Oh really? But it goes on and says that the story had factual inaccuracies.
Betsy Lauber, another of John’s sisters, told ABC News, “The family of John Lauber is releasing a statement saying the portrayal of John is factually incorrect and we are aggrieved that he would be used to further a political agenda. There will be no more comments from the family.” said Christine, “If he were alive today, he would be furious (about the story).” Jason Horowitz, the reporter on the Post story, spoke to both sisters and quoted them in the story and still screwed up the facts. Just like the liberal media is wont to do in a story like this. The truth just seems to get lost in there somewhere, as the story implied that Romney was now a murderer because he was the beginning of the end for Lauber. But the story goes on.
Lauber died in 2004 according to his three sisters. But if you read his obituary in the South Bend Tribune he led an incredibly full full life. He graduated from Vanderbilt, became a member of the British Horse Society, had his seaman papers, was a licensed mortician in three states and head chef at the Russian River Resort in California, and even served as a civilian contractor to the troops in Iraq. This does not sound like someone crippled by a supposedly crucial incident back in high school. For a lot of this information, I checked out ABC News, the Washington Post and also the Brietbart.com. I also got this story and the links from The Last Refuge.
To the media, I want to ask, Now aren’t you ashamed? BUT of course you’re not. You are only doing what your “john’s” have probably paid you to do, in one form or another.
