Let me finish tonight with this. Newt Gingrich has called Barack Obama a Food Stamp President. Food Stamp President. Got it? I thought we were passed all this, didn’t you? You know, the talk about Welfare Queens and phrases like that. Well, you either get the message or you don’t. And if you don’t, there’s no point arguing with you about it. Most people do get the point, meaning most people white and black get the point.
Speaker Gingrich went at Juan Williams last night in that debate in just this vein. He knew what he was doing. Williams could see that saying that black Americans should want jobs not food stamps was insulting. Gingrich then laid into him saying that President Obama had put more Americans on food stamps than any other president. He got a lot of applause for that. Why would saying that get you a big, hearty applause? Because this whole conversation isn’t about poverty, but about race. It’s about a candidate who knows just how to make his point to appeal to a certain kind of voter. I’m talking about Gingrich here.
From the Right Scoop they hit on this one just perfect when they posted, “It’s so funny that the left, in this case Chris Matthews, has absolutely no substantive argument other than to call people racists. In this instance Matthews is accusing Gingrich of using race to appeal to a ‘certain type of voter’ because he called Obama a ‘food stamp president’. Apparently Matthews can’t get it through his thick head that the truth of Gingrich’s statement is that Obama is making Americans poor and needy. No, it has to be about race because we all know that the Republican Party and the Tea Party is really the KKK in plain clothing. Good grief!
“It’s amazing that Chris Matthews doesn’t just pull the bottle out and drink right on the air……”
In that the Right Scoop has it so right. Chris Matthews has absolutely no substance to throw at the tea party or the Conservatives, or the Republicans except for racism. And in my mind, the man has no clue as to what racism really is. He only has his agenda, which is to do everything he can to help Obama. For the whole left, it is nothing more than that.
But that is not where this ends. In the last debate, John King started the debate by asking Newt Gingrich this:
“Mr. Speaker, I want to start with that this evening. As you know, your ex-wife gave an interview to ABC News and another interview at the Washington Post, and this story has now gone viral on the Internet. In it she says that you came to her in 1999 at a time when you were having an affair. She says you asked her, sir, to enter into an open marriage. Would you like to take some time to respond to that?”
Now here is where this whole thing gets interesting. Newt took it to Mr. King, in a major way. But if you think that Newt doing this embarrassed the media into realizing the error of their ways, think again. It didn’t. These people think of John King as a God right now because he took it to Newt Gingrich. Never mind that Newt had a good answer and a good response. Never mind that the people in the audience cheered loudly. The media is blind to this kind of opening. They think of it as another opportunity to take it to the Republicans.
Because usually it works.
It didn’t this time.
It didn’t with Reagan.
But in the mean time, the media goes right back to their smearing of the GOP and the praising of Obama. Nothing will change when it comes to them. But, we have to stand up and cheer for Newt for standing up and throwing it back in their faces this time. We may live another 30 years before another politician does this again. So savor it while we can. Because when Newt is gone, the media will always return to their agenda.
May God Bless our efforts to help get America back, and put God back into our country
God Bless America, Bless all Americans, and bless us to start using more common sense.
