Ladies and gentlemen, when this sort of thing happens, it tells you that the giant is awake, it tells you that he’s not happy, and that his constituency will stand up, rise up and smite those at the ballot box, who have so disappointed their faith and their confidence.
You don’t do the wage earner any favors when you beat up the wage giver. The reason why I say this is because of the things our government is doing to hurt the wage payer, in an attempt to bring down unemployment. And American confidence in what the government is doing is at an all time low. And I have the numbers for you liberals here….if you wish to read them instead of getting your underwear in a bunch. These numbers were gotten from the newly released Gallup poll, that was about negativity towards the United States Government. Here it is:
Congressional Ratings: Trust and Confidence in the Legislative Branch of the Federal Government.
In 1972, (the second term of Richard Nixon) Congress enjoyed a 71% approval rating in that 71% of the people polled had a great deal to a fair amount of confidence in congress. Today it is at 31%
But there has to be some history, on what it has done in the mean time, between then and now.
In 1972, in the confidence, titled “not very much or none at all, was down at 25%, so only one quarter of the population had little or no trust in the legislative branch of government. Today, on the other hand 69% of the people have little or no trust in the legislative government. Do you think that the coming election is going to be important?
From 1976, The year that we got Carter, Confidence in the legislative branch went from 61 to 54%, from Carter to the beginning of Bush. Now that is the poll of a great deal to a fair amount of confidence. To 1998! During that time we lost about 7 points.
Went back up to 68% during H.W. Bush’s term.
In 2002, when “Slick Willie” Clinton got elected, Congress had an approval rating, or a confidence rating of 65%. That is fairly high. But, it has plunged since then, with one jump along the way, during the short period when the Republicans controlled both houses. Now you libs may be tying your shorts in a knot over this, but I am not making this up. The numbers come from the Gallup poll…..Not me. But, the Republicans lost some of it as well.
For example, in 2004, and now you have to remember your history, that is when the republicans got nominal control of both houses, when George Walker Bush was popular the controlling party picked up seats, and he helped them to do that, so that the House and the Senate both went Republican.
Between ’02 and ’04, the Republicans lost 5 points bringing it from 67% with confidence in them, down to 62%. In 2004 they kept both houses, and their confidence level went down to 60%. Ironically, between 2005 and 2006, it rose again. So the republicans running both houses of congress, got approval back to about 64%. Had to guess a little on that because it was between lines on the chart.
So in “04, when “W” got re elected the house and senate lost two points of their confidence level with the people between ’04 and’05. In 2006 it went back to 62.
Now, for all to see, let me point this out. In 2006, when the voters kicked the Republicans out, and we lost both houses, their confidence level with the American people was still at 62%! This being only 9 points below the highest it had ever been since they started keeping records on this in 1972!
Are you with me so far? We have ups and downs with the republicans, they lost about 3 points net, with the American people’s confidence during this whole time, ’02 to ’06.
But that is where it plummeted. In 2006, American confidence was at 62%. Democrats have controlled at least one house since then. It is at 31% now! Americans confidence in the legislative branch has dropped in half! During the period of Nancy Pelosi for 4 years, and Harry Reid for six, have had control of things.
Approval of the way they did their jobs has gone from 84% in 2002 to 13.5% today! Think about it. Does that show that a good job is being done? What has happened and whose responsibility is it? Now before you liberals give yourselves a wedgie, let me ask that in a different way.
If those numbers were inversed, and confidence in the Congress skyrocketed, instead of plunging, do not tell me that Reid, Pelosi and Obama, and the rest of the liberals would not be claiming credit for that. You can’t take the credit one way, and then duck the bullet when it goes south. You can’t, though you always try. No one can tell me with a straight face that it’s fair when you do that.
When they get the attaboys when things go right, then they should get the credit when they hold a reign of terror in the houses and it plunges to depths almost never seen before. I will hold them to that one. It is their fault.
Now there is one thing that I left out here. And it is a good one, and good being facetious, and this one hit me right between the eyes.
Americans sense that the federal government, this also from the gallup poll, out the other day, poses “an immediate threat to individuals rights and freedoms.” This is at an all time high. The question was:
Do you think that the federal government poses an immediate threat to ordinary citizens or not?
In about September of 2003, those who said it didn’t were at 68%. Today, those who think that it is, is 1/2 of that.
49% of Americans say the federal government poses an immediate threat to their rights and freedoms. How did that happen? Garrison said it best:
Remember that the republicans lost both houses in ’06. When they started doing this polling in September of 2003, only 39% of Americans thought that the government posed an immediate threat.
In ’04 of course, when the congress went Republican, and nominally so, actually it was in ’02 that it went Republican, it was at that point. In the following 15 months, to the ’04 elections, that number rose by a point and a half. A modest change. Throughout ’04, that number went up three points.
Then in ’06, when the democrats took over the house and the senate, it began to climb. Immediate threat fears. Now I suppose one can make the argument, that immediate threats more focus on the executive branch, but I’m not sure that that case can be made.
During the time period that we’ve had liberals in charge of the congress, that fear has risen from 38% to 49%! And after Barack Obama took office, it went up 5 points.
Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, Thomas Jefferson said, “Love your country. Fear your government.” I believe president Jefferson’s admonitions are being heeded by the voting public.
Does anymore have to be said here? This coming election is going to be the most important one, I would say, in our history. For if we don’t vote these idiots out of office that have caused this, our history will all be behind us, because our future will be gone. It’s that imperative!!!
May God bless our efforts to help get America back, and put God back into our country.
God, Bless America. Bless Americans. And Bless us to start using more common sense.
