Chris Christie having to fight liberalism again

How I expect you to live, Penny, is you’re gonna have to pick a different health plan that’s not nearly as rich as the one you’re getting now. That’s how.
-Governor Chris Christie-

The other night, in Trenton, New Jersey, on the radio show, Ask the Governor, a caller by the name of Penny called in complaining about having to pay for her insurance. She asked the Governor this:

“I would like to know why you want to take at least 13% out of state employees’ pay for health care. Between what my husband and I make, you’re talking about $600 a month out of our money which is gonna cut into our food and our other bills. How do you expect us to live, governor?”

I love his answer to her. To a liberal it sounds heartless, but it isn’t. When there isn’t any money to pay for the high priced health care that these state employees get, it is wrong to keep paying it for them. Everyone else pays for their health care if they have it…..it shouldn’t hurt the state employees to pay 13% of their’s. And if they would be paying 600 dollars a month and that is only 13% of their pay…..then by God I don’t feel sorry for them at all. They should have plenty of money to pay that.

Chris Christie let her know exactly why in his answer. He said:

CHRISTIE: How I expect you to live, Penny, is you’re gonna have to pick a different health plan that’s not nearly as rich as the one you’re getting now. That’s how.
PENNY: Either that or you’ll force us to not have any health care.

CHRISTIE: No, I’m not gonna force you to not have any health care. I don’t think that means forcing you to go without health care. But what it means is we can no longer afford to pay 90 plus percent of the cost of your health care. Public workers are getting their health insurance paid for out of your property taxes, and state workers are getting their health insurance paid for out of your income taxes. If I’m $67 billion in debt and you don’t want me to take any more money out of your paycheck, how am I supposed to pay for it? Am I supposed to just raise taxes? Because if I raise taxes you’re gonna pay more taxes, and if your property taxes go up, you’re going to pay more taxes. I mean the money’s gotta come from somewhere. We can’t print it.

Well, hallelujiah. Someone finally said it. And a politician at that. But, of course, being the entitlement type liberal, Penny continued:

“I realize that, but it seems like it’s always coming from the poor and not the rich to make up for these shortfalls.”

CHRISTIE: Penny, the top 1% of taxpayers in this state pay 41% of the total income tax. The top 1% pay 41% of the income tax. So to say that the rich don’t pay is just not true. How much do you want them to pay? There comes a point where you cannot have everything that you want. And as much as I would like to be able to say to you, “You know what, Penny, you’re right, I don’t want you to have to pay another nickel for your health insurance,” I can’t pay for it, and we already have the highest taxes in America. I gotta tell you the truth, your neighbor who works in the private sector pays a heck of a lot more for his or her health insurance than you do. And on the top of it they’re paying the taxes to pay for your health insurance. And so I’ve got a problem to fix here. We’re broke and I gotta fix this problem.”

WOW!!! You have no idea how long the Conservative side of this country has been waiting for a politician to tell everyone this…..let alone someone who is trying to keep their “welfare on insurance” going. Even at the expense of everyone else, when there is no more money to do it with, and even when the people who pay for those benefits for people like Penny, are making much less than she is. I have no pity for her. It’s sad to think that they can’t get a grasp on the fact that being deeply in debt means you have to scale back your spending to help pay for that debt. New Jersey is $67+ billion in debt. Come on Penny, and you liberals out there. If you want to keep your coverages, and you’re working in the public arena, then you have to start paying if you wish to keep your expensive health care, that you are not paying for in the first place. EVERY ONE ELSE IS, and everyone else is out of money for you. So you are going to have to change your way of living Penny….and you liberals.

But the best thing that I have ever found, as to why liberals are the way they are, comes straight from the bible. From the book of Ecclesiastes:

The heart of the wise inclines to the “right”,
but the heart of the fool to the “left”.
Ecclesiastes 10:2 (NIV)

“Nuff said don’t you think?

May God bless our efforts to help get America back, and put God back into our country.
God, Bless America. Bless Americans. And Bless us to start using more common sense.

One Response to Chris Christie having to fight liberalism again

Wow! Chris Christie sure did give Penny a mouthful. Never thought I’d see an elected official tell the hard, unvarnished truth to a constituent. Christie really comes across as a principled statesman committed to what’s best for his state, and not as a politician committed only to his re-election. This has given me a new appreciation for Christie, though I’m still put off by his soft stance on gun control and illegal immigration. I guess we can’t have everything in a public servant, huh?
reply from Robert: I think on the gun control and illegal immigration, he will come around. Though, I don’t think that he is as good as Mitch Daniels. But I guess I am partial on that one. *ss* Thanks for the great comment my friend.
