And the blaming is going to begin……

A gunman nearly unloaded a semiautomatic weapon at a busy supermarket Saturday during a public gathering for Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, wounding the democrat and killing Arizona’s chief federal judge and five others in an attempted assassination that left American’s questioning whether divisive politics had pushed the suspect over the edge.

Can’t you see it coming? I can. The shooting happened in Tucson, Arizona at a busy supermarket and was directed at the Representative who was wounded in the gunfire.

The article goes on to say that the shooting had targeted the three term congresswoman who was a democrat. She is in critical condition after a bullet passed through her head. President Obama called the attack “a tragedy for our entire country.”

Now, before saying anything else, I am sure that prayers are being sent out from all over for this woman, who didn’t deserve what happened, and we here at Wise Conservatism ask God to watch over her and help her to get well, without any lasting effects from this. But now we must prepare ourselves for the inevitable that is about to come.

Giffords, who is 40, is a moderate Democrat who narrowly won re-election in November, against a tea party candidate who sought to throw her from office because of her support of the health care law. Anger, the story goes on to say, because of her position became violent at times, with her office in Tucson being vandalized after the House passed the overhaul last March. Someone also showed up at a recent gathering with a weapon.

Now, the police say that the shooter is in custody, and is identified as Jared Loughner, 22, who is thought to be mentally unstable, according to Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik. The sheriff also said that Jared was possibly doing this with an accomplice.

Giffords was among the thirteen people wounded in the shooting that killed six people, which sadly included a 9 year old girl, an aide for the democratic lawmaker, and a U.S. District Judge, John Roll, who had just stopped by to see his friend Giffords after attending Mass. The rampage and shooting stopped when two people tackled the gunman. The sheriff blamed the vitriolic political rhetoric that has consumed the country, much of which has occurred in Arizona.

Now this is a very sad state of affairs and I pray that the wounded recover and be able to lead their lives the way they were before. But we have to watch what will be going on here in the next few weeks, if not hours. I know almost without a doubt that the Tea Party is going to get blamed for this. Republicans are going to get the blame for this, instead of the investigators trying to find out why it happened. Out of everything that was said, one thing did ring true. “Arizona is a state where people are firearms owners. This was just a deranged individual.” And this is how we have to look at this. I do not believe that the shooter was a tea partier, and if we was, then it was just him doing what he did, without the consent of the other tea party members. This was not a “tea party” event, nor was it a Republican or a Democrat event. This was just a sick thing, pulled off by a sick individual who needs to be put in jail for a long long time.

It doesn’t matter what your political affiliation is, it is never right to take the law, or commit criminal activity as we have seen here, into your own hands, and become a vigilante for a vengeance you feel needs to be dealt with. Never! And on that point, we all need to stop blaming, and pull together. After all, no matter what the party affiliations we have, we are all Americans, and we need to start acting like Americans, rather than a country at war with itself. And that is how this country looks to the world. We are seen as a country at war with itself, and our friends are mourning the passing of a great country, and our enemies are gleeful and rejoicing. Do we really want to destroy our own nation this way?

The other thing that is missing in all of this, is that there is NOT much more than a mere mention of the two heroes that tackled this sick young murderer, when he was reloading his assault rifle to start firing again.

I found an article at, that mentions the name of a man who says he was one of the men that tackled Loughner. His name is Bill Badger, a retired army colonel, told The Republican-Herald in Pottsville Saturday that he is one of two men who tackled Arizona shooting suspect Jared Loughner. If it wasn’t for these two people that did this, the death count could have been much much higher. God bless those two people, who were brave beyond reproach. I looked and looked but couldn’t find anything about who they were. Also killed was a 9 year old girl, Christina Taylor Green, who was born on September 11, 2001. She had just been elected to her school council, and was interested in government.

No matter what laws are changed, or what penalties are not enforced, this man who did this today will pay. Either here or in the hereafter. Of that I have no doubt. And I have less doubts about his punishment here, because he is in Arizona. Many other states I wouldn’t be so sure. This man needs to be punished for the crime of murder, and attempted murder that he did today. This was wrong, in anyone’s eyes, and I don’t care if he was mentally unstable. He had to know, even if it was deep down, that what he did was wrong. And “wrong” needs to be punished.

God bless everyone who was injured today, with the touch of the Lord, to help them recover and get better. God Bless the law enforcement that was on the scene for catching the man. I pray that this country starts learning that we have to punish bad behavior, instead of being PC about it and only scolding the people doing the crimes.

On a final note, blaming this horrible shooting on the Tea Party or any other conservative or liberal group, is beyond irresponsible. Unless they belong to inherently violent groups, or subscribe to their ideologies, monsters like Jared Loughner should bear sole blame for their murderous rampages. Let’s all remember that, and resist the temptation to exploit tragedy for political gain. That’s almost as evil as committing the murders themselves.

May God bless our efforts to help get America back, and put God back into our country.
God, Bless America. Bless Americans.

This is a sad story indeed. Besides the gunman and the victims, there were at least two people that put themselves in harms way to stop this guy. From what I have read they tackled him while he was trying to reload so were it not for them more people may have been hurt. Those people are heroes but that message is being crowded out by all the finger pointing.
reply from Robert: Thanks for this. I had thought of that but didn’t put it in here. I will now add it as an after thought because you are so right. The real heroes here are being ignored.

Robert, Great post….What can one add to what has already been said….I pray for all people involved in this tragedy. stay well….
reply from Robert: Exactly. I just added a little about the two people from the crowd that took the moment of their lives to tackle Jared while he was trying to reload his weapon, so the shooting was stopped. It is amazing. This is something that I would think would be a big part of the story, the heroes that saved more from being killed, but they are mentioned as in passing, instead of the media naming them as the heroes that they are.
