“Where in the Constitution is separation of church and state?”
-Republican Christine O’Donnell-
Republican Christine O’Donnell challenged her Democratic rival Tuesday to show where the Constitution requires separation of church and state, drawing swift criticism from her opponent, laughter from her law school audience and a quick defense from prominent conservatives. The swift criticism came from her opponent because he knew that She had him. No matter how much the democrats say that there has to be separation of church and state, they know that it isn’t in the Constitution. And until now, no one has called them on it. Now that it is happening, they don’t know how to react.
“Where in the Constitution is separation of church and state?” O’Donnell asked while Democrat Chris Coons, an attorney, sat just a few feet away.
Coons returned with a statement, that O’Donnell’s question “reveals her fundamental misunderstanding of what our Constitution is. … The First Amendment establishes a separation.”
Now to set things straight, and to show that Coons is wrong and O’Donnell is right, here is the first amendment:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free excercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Now, where in that is Separation of Church and state? It isn’t there. All that amendment does is tell the government what it can and cannot do, though, the government has not been doing what the constitution says for a while now. Especially not during the current administration.
The Constitution was written clearly and concisely so that everyone would know what was meant. And here, what was meant was that the government has NO RIGHT to make any laws concerning the establishment of any church, and it has NO RIGHT to prohibit the free excercise of religion. Freedom of Speech is also protected in that Amendment, though, the liberal left is always going against that one, especially when someone of the Conservative persuasion says something that they don’t agree with. Which is where Christine O’Donnell comes in.
Being that she is nothing to them but a newcomer, they figure that they can stop her because she has no idea what she is talking about. But, she proved them wrong.
Coons responded that O’Donnell’s question “reveals her fundamental misunderstanding of what our Constitution is. … The First Amendment establishes a separation.”
She interrupted to say, “The First Amendment does? … So you’re telling me that the separation of church and state, the phrase ‘separation of church and state,’ is in the First Amendment?”
O’Donnell was not questioning the concept of separation of church and state as established by the courts. She simply made the point that the phrase appears nowhere in the Constitution. Which it doesn’t.
Rush Limbaugh made the same point on his radio program soon after the debate, when he said, “There’s nothing in the Constitution about separation of church and state.”
The funny part about this is the news media calls this her latest Controversial move to befall her in a race where she trails badly in the polls against Coons. The trouble is, the truth isn’t supposed to be controversial. Is it? According to the liberal left and the media it is….but I am sorry to tell you all. It isn’t. The truth is the truth. NOTHING MORE. And the reason why they are so scared in this race is, that this seat that O’Donnell and Coons is running for is the seat held for years by Vice President Joe Biteme….uh sorry Biden. And O’Donnell, with strong tea party support burst into the national spotlight by winning the Republican primary over a longtime GOP congressman. This in itself scared the hell out of the left. The left is scared to death of all the GOP women that are out here now. And I think it is great! It is fun to watch the left implode. And right now they are imploding with complete abandon. They do not know what is happening to them. But we do. We the People know….and in just a few days, we are going to speak loudly, voting these liberal morons out of office.
But, that is not where this can end. When the election is over, the battle will have just started. We have to keep up the fight, instead of doing what we did in ’94. The democrats want us to join them and Compromise, and now the Republican elite is calling for the same thing. But, to that I have to say, the only ones to compromise are the losers. And if the Republican leadership calls for Compromise with the democrats, then we might as well choose new leaders to lead this election which we most assuredly will win. Because if we win, and then compromise, we will be showing that we didn’t learn the lessons of ’94, and we will have lost our last chance to take this country back for a long time to come.
WE THE PEOPLE will not let you compromise with the enemy, because compromising means we lost. And that is not what we are fighting for now is it? This is a warning to the elite of the Republican leadership. Don’t do this, because Compromise is NOT the solution. Because the Tea Party is not going away after the election is over.
