The Trend has started, but can we keep it going?

Virginia Governor McDonnell

Virginia's race is won, but not by Obama's side.

At 8:07 pm eastern time, McDonald, the Republican in Virginia, as Republicans wrested political control of the state from the Democrats today as independent voters swung behind the GOP, a troubling sign for President Barack Obama and his party heading into an important midterm election year.

Of course the Democrats are downplaying this, but this is huge.

The thing that makes this huge, is the democrats have invested hugely to win this, and didn’t do it. Republican Gov.-elect Bob McDonnell’s victory in Virginia over Democrat R. Creigh Deeds was a triumph for the GOP as it looks to try to get back to it’s conservative roots, after straying so far from it over the last year or two. This loss for the Democrats is also a setback for the White House in a swing state that was a crucial part of Obama’s electoral landslide just a year ago. The president had personally campaigned for Deeds. Several times. Isn’t this a hoot!

Now the problem, as this Conservative sees it, in 1992 when the Republicans swept into power on the promise of change to smaller government and lower taxes….they did fine for the first year…then they started losing their way. I am afraid that this will happen again, and the next election will give us the Democrats again.

The only way to keep this from happening is to keep the politicians honest by letting them know that we are watching them. Even when there isn’t a looming election on the horizon. We can keep them honest this way. The chance that we are watching and they could lose their positions does scare most politicians.

As of now, every other race is too close to call, except maybe the one in New York’s 23rd. Fred Thompson has come out on Fox News and said that he thinks that the Conservative Candidate, Doug Hoffman will win the race. He is ahead now at this writing, and Christie of New Jersey has taken the lead there. So the Republicans right now are winning all three of those. Even with Obama stumping for the campaigns of the Democrats.

That is all for now my friends….I will continue to watch this and report more later. God Bless you all.

About Robert P. Garding

I am a Reagan Conservative, who is very alarmed at the Liberals who have just lost their majority over our government, but continue to act like it never happened. They have to be stopped. NOW or even sooner.

I sure hope the Republicans can pull it off tonight and not lose their way later. Fingers crossed.

reply from Robert: Same here. But like I said on the post my friend, we can keep them honest when they win. All we have to do is keep our heads in the game so to speak. And that isn’t hard to do. All we have to do is, get back into it when they start to stray. Keep them on the straight and narrow. That is why politicians get dirty. They know that the American people will not do anything about it most times.

Well Hoffman may not have won but he had great momentum in the final week. Had the RNCC endorsed him from the beginning he may have won outright. The GOP better start listening to the base. Consider the Hoffman race a warning shot to both parties.

reply from Robert: I think that it is really telling that Hoffman did as well as he did, especially since just days before the election, everyone was saying that he didn’t have a chance. He is going to be a force to be reconed with, just like Sarah Palin has become.

How’s it going buddy. I just wrote my first article in almost a year. It’s not long, but I think I’m going to writing more soon.

reply from Robert:: Things are going great here. I picked up the slack when you stopped. Good to have you back. Going to read your new post now. Dang…..can’t find your blog…..new address?

  4. New Conservative says:

Also I think Hoffman will run as a Republican and win in 2010.

reply from Robert: I agree with that one sir.
