Obama promised change, what we get is more of the same…..

Barack Obama promised change all throughout his campaign, and yet, now that he has gotten the coveted position he was after, he is doing just what I have said all along that he would, and you on the left just wouldn’t listen. He is not giving us change, he is giving us all the insiders that caused a lot of the troubles we are seeing today. Insiders like friends and acquaintances from the corrupt Chicago machine, and the corrupt Clinton people. Veterans of the Washington elite who will keep us going on the same destructive path as before. Obama is not change, Obama is more of the same, with leanings farther left than this country has ever seen before. And it isn’t just me saying this. The news media is catching on too. FINALLY. A headline from this mornings AP news reads: Obama Promised change, picking insiders…….

President-elect promised change, picking insiders
By KEVIN FREKING, Associated Press Writer Kevin Freking, Associated Press Writer 42 mins ago

WASHINGTON – President-elect Barack Obama promised the voters change but has started his Cabinet selection process by naming several Washington insiders to top posts.

Obama is enlisting former Senate leader Tom Daschle as his health secretary. Hillary Rodham Clinton, a well-known Washington personality, seemed more likely than ever to be his secretary of state. Clinton is deciding whether to take that post as America’s top diplomat, her associates said Wednesday

Obama is ready to announce that his attorney general will be Eric Holder, the Justice Department’s No. 2 when Clinton’s husband was president. Rahm Emanuel, Obama’s chief of staff, is another veteran of the Clinton White House.

Daschle’s selection to head the Health and Human Services Department — confirmed Wednesday but not yet announced — isn’t at the same level of Cabinet prestige as the top spots at the State and Justice departments. But the health post could be more important in an Obama administration than in some others, making Daschle a key player in helping steer the president-elect’s promised health care reforms.

Daschle could push Obama for quick action on health care reform next year, if he follows his own advice.

Daschle said efforts during the Clinton administration, led by Hillary Clinton, took too long and went into too much detail, giving every interest group an opportunity to find something they didn’t like about the plan.

“The next president should act immediately to capitalize on the goodwill that greets any incoming administration. If that means attaching a health-care plan to the federal budget, so be it,” Daschle wrote in a book he released this year, “Critical: What We Can Do About the Health-Care Crisis.” “This issue is too important to be stalled by Senate protocol.”

The former South Dakota senator’s return to the government will be a vindication of sorts. He was the Senate Democratic leader when he was defeated in 2004 by Republican John Thune, who convinced voters back home that Daschle was more concerned with Washington than with them.

In fact, Daschle stayed in the capital city after his defeat, becoming a public policy adviser and member of the legislative and public policy group at the law and lobbying firm Alston & Bird. Daschle isn’t registered as a lobbyist. He advises clients on issues including health care, financial services, taxes and trade, according to the firm’s Web site.

Health care interests, including CVS Caremark, the National Association for Home Care and Hospice, Abbott Laboratories and HealthSouth, are among the firm’s lobbying clients.

Daschle’s appointment was not formally announced, but Democratic officials said the job was his barring an unforeseen problem as Obama’s team reviews his background. One area of review will include the lobbying connections of his wife, Linda Hall Daschle, who has worked mostly on behalf of airline-related companies over the years. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to discuss the matter publicly.

Republicans sniped at what they saw as an unwelcome trend. Alex Conant, spokesman for the Republican National Committee, said, “Barack Obama is filling his administration with longtime Washington insiders.”

The problem that we as a nation are having here people, is that we do not remember from one day to the next what someone says. Barack Obama said many things, and then the people who voted for him, conveniently forgot what was said, he decides to say something else, to save his butt. The American people have selective memory. They remember lies that are told about the Republicans, but do not remember them as lies. They do not remember things that are told about the democrats unless it goes against the people who believe as they do.

With the Fairness Doctrine that they are trying to pass now, can be exposed by asking them a very simple thing. They say that they are just trying to get equal time for an opposing point of view. But here is what you do. The next time they say this, ask them, if that is what they are trying to do, why isn’t there ever an opposing point of view when Katie Couric spouts her liberal bias all over the airwaves? If they were really trying to get equal time, then they would make sure that there was an opposing point of view on for the same amount of time that she is. Of course, this wouldn’t happen. When the New York Times prints their liberal agenda, then they should devote just as much space to something Conservative. Of course, this wouldn’t happen either. And those are only two of the things that makes this whole Censorship doctrine that the Liberals are now pushing, a problem for me. The fairness doctrine is to get rid of all opposing viewpoints. From Rush Limbaugh all the way down to little ole me and my Conservative talk show on Blog Talk Radio. And here is my problem with that if it ever happens. The problem is, there are already liberally baised shows on Blog Talk Radio, but they will not be affected with this. Only the Conserative ones like mine, and Political Pistachio and Halls of Valhalla will be. Mark my words here people, when the Democrats start doing this one sided censoring, they will not remember us warning them of this. They will make up a new story to cover their tracks.

  1. Angel says:

    the censorship doctrine indeed!:)

  2. virgomonkey says:

Obama’s “change” meant change from the last 8 years of Bush.

Secondly, as far as I’m aware, Obama hasn’t elected anybody. No changes have been made!!

Angel, are you talking about the “fairness doctrine”. Since when does having counter-opinions equate to censorship or silencing the conservative media? Obama doesn’t support the fairness doctrine, anyway.

  3. cube says:

Change and hope was for the suckers. Mad TV had a skit calling it chope.

  4. virgomonkey says:

Cube, is that why the McPalin campaign used “CHANGE” as one of their campaign slogans?

Or “Country First” when McCain ran off to go and “save the economy” when he really didn’t do anything at all but have his make-up put on for another promotional interview?

    Suckers?

  5. Jeff Stone says:

Change is the mantra for those that ,not just believe but hold as doctrine, among other things, that there is nothing illegal about being an illegal alien and when a government program is failing it just needs more money, a lot more money.

For those people this is CHANGE !

Anything said is just so unimportant. All that is needed is to keep wanting CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN. The One will do what is needed. All we must do is BELIEVE IN CHANGE.

Even if it is just the same.

  6. virgomonkey says:

Jeff, but with your unconditional respect for Bush, isn’t that what you guys want – which is more of the same? You should be happy, no?

First you guys are all over Obama for being on the far Left and now you are all over him for moving toward the middle?

    Obama can do no right?

If Obama continues Bush’s policies, then you can say that Obama was lying about change. His line, “eight is enough” should be more than enough to let you in on what he means by change.

Illegal immigration? For the last eight years illegals have been taking over this country, my tax dollars have been giving them discounts on education, housing, and free medical care, and for pardoning their crimes. And Bush, who you have a 100% allegiance to, was calling our national guards and minutemen “vigalantes”? There is one national guard who was trying to defend himself from an illegal alien, and he is still sitting in jail – under Bush’s watch.

Bush did squat about illegal immigration, and you have the nerve to blame that on Obama – even before he ran for presidency?

    Wow.

  7. elwoodin says:

the trouble is Virgom…..is that Obama is not really moving to the center. He is just doing this because he knows with his complete liberal views, he will have trouble, so he is saying he is movning to the center, when he has no intention of ever doing so. That is why we do not like whatever he is doing, because he has stated his intentions….and they are not in the center. He still says them, just intersperses the things he IS going to do with thngs that he knows will help his cause…..being in the center.
