I have noted that lately, more and more stuff that goes against Christians, is more prevalent. Take the story out of New Mexico this week, where a couple, who owns a photography business, is fined, by a judge, for over 6,600 dollars for refusing to take photographs at a same-sex ceremony because it went against their religious beliefs. I found this article under the Faith under Fire section of the WorldNetDaily online paper. It said:
Christian photographers fined for refusing same-sex ceremony
State hits couple with $6,600 penalty for violating anti-discrimination law
The sate of New Mexico has ordered a family owned photography company to pay more than $6,600 for declining a demand to take pictures at a same-sex ceremony, and a lawyer who is working on an appeal says it is an example of how “non-discrimination” or “hate” laws can be weapons in the hands of homosexual activities.
“The Constitution prohibits the state from forcing unwilling people to promotes a message they disagree with and thereby violate their conscience,” said Jordan Lorence, senior counsel with the Alliance Defense Fund.
“The Commission’s decision shows stunning disregard for our client’s First Amendment’s Rights, and we will appeal…,” he said.
The case before the New Mexico Human Rights Commission was brought by Vanessa Willock against Elane Photography LLC, which is run by Jon and Elaine Huguenin.
The couple that included Willock approached Elaine Huguenin and wanted Huguenins to photograph a “commitment ceremony” the women wanted to hold.
“Huguenin declined because her Christian beliefs are in conflict with the message communicated by the ceremony,” according to the law firm.
Willock then alleged she was a victim of “discrimination” because of her sexual orientation, and brought the complaint before the state agency.
In its ruling this week, the commission found: “Complainant, Vanessa Willock, proved her discrimination clain based on sexual orientation. The Complainant proved by a preponderance of the enidence that the Respondent, Elane Photography, LLC, discriminated against her because of sexual orientation in violation of … the New Mexico Human Rights Act.”
The Christian couple was ordered to pay Willock $6,637.94.
Now this is just one example of where this country is out of control, and the government is also out of control. Another example of how out of control we are, is a survey that was in the Indianapolis Star this week on Wednesday. Here is what it said:
Survey: My way isn’t the only way to earn salvation.
America remains a nation of believers, but a new survey finds most Americans don’t think their religion is the only way to eternal life, even if their faith tradition teaches otherwise.
The findings, revealed Monday in a survey of more than 35,000 adults, can either be taken as a sign of growing religious tolerance or evidence that Americans dismiss or don’t know fundamental teachings of their own faiths.
Among the more startling numbers in the survey, conducted last year by the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life: 57% of evangelical churchgoers said they believe many religions can lead to eternal life, in conflict with traditional evangelical teaching.
“There’s a growing pluralistic impluse toward tolerance, and that is having theological consequences,” said D. Michael Lindsay, a Rice University sociologist of religion.
This analysis, based on a questionaire that never mentions Jesus, protrays a nation of “free-flowing spirituality”, said Pew Forum director Luis Lugo, who finds the declining adherance to dogma “stunning”.
The Reverend Frank Page, of Taylors, South Carolina said, “People don’t know their faith because “Gospel, once clearly preached in virtually every Protestant church, is rarely heard in the 21st century. the number who teach a clear doctrinal Christianity are a minority today. “How would people know it when they never hear about how to be saved?”
Nearly across the board, the majority of religious Americans believe many religions can lead to eternal life.
Now the problems start right with the headline of the story. You don’t earn salvation…it is given to you by God. You don’t even have to be worthy. Jesus Christ died for your sins and for your salvation. Jesus is the only way to salvation. You do not earn it. You have to believe in Jesus Christ as your savior. There is not other way. This nation is out of control with all the priorities that it sets up, and doing things like setting up foot baths for Muslims at Universities and Airports, but excluding Christians in most everything, which is part and parcel of the problem. But that is what the left in this country wants. You create a hodge-podge of personalized faith. Exclusivism (the idea that one religion has the absolute and exclusive truth) has gotten a bad name in America today.
The amount of time we spend involved with mass media (television, radio, newspapers, magazines) and targeted communications media (the internet, E-mail, faxes) continues to expand. Teenagers show that they devote an average of seven hours out of their seventeen waking hours each day to input from the media.
Realize too, that growing numbers of people now judge the validity and relevance of a church service by the church’s use of technology. In just a few years we will see that millions of people will never travel physically to a church, but will instead roam the Internet in search of meaningful spiritual experiences.
To add to the problem, the left has for years been taking the family out of the mix, and the results are these:
• One out of every four marriages has ended in a divorce.
• Two out of three adults say that a successful marriage is one in which both partners have
total freedom to do as they choose.
• One-third of all married adults believe that adultery is an acceptable behavior.
• Cohabitation has risen by more than 500% in the past two decades (even though people
who cohabitate prior to marriage have an 82% greater chance of divorce than do couples
who marry without having first lived together).
• One out of three children born this year will be born to an unwed mother.
The typical family spends relatively little time in shared emotional experiences, leaving young people with a feeling of emotional abandonment. More than 9 out of 10 adults have bought into the lie that the most important factor in developing a strong relationship is the quality of the time devoted to the relationship, regardless of the amount of time invested in that bond.
In the past, we defined family as people related by birth, adoption, or marriage. Now we define family as all of the people whom we care about very deeply, or who deeply care about us. These days, you earn your family by virtue of your emotional attachment.
The danger inherent in that definition, of course, is that family then becomes very fluid: Here today, gone tomorrow. This approach to a family undermines the potential for trust, loyalty, commitment, forgiveness, sacrifice, and emotional intimacy. In other words….the family is disappearing. this kind of thinking also erodes the stigma associated with behaviors such as adultery, abuse, divorce, and immoral liaisons.
Most Americans believe there is no right faith; that all of the major faiths teach the same lessons; and that all people pray to the same gods, no matter what names they use for those deities. Baby Busters (the children of the baby boomers) are actually the first generation in American history in which a majority of those who are seeking a religious faith to embrace are starting their spiritual journey with a faith group other than Christianity.
More and more people, enticed by the narcissistic or feel-good focus of other religions, will abandon Jesus Christ in favor of faiths that seem more in tune with their needs.
That being said, we can figure that this nation is on a downhill slide now. A nation cannot exist for long without commitment. Did you get that? It cannot exist for long without Commitment! It cannot exist for long without consequences of actions. It cannot exist for long without moral understanding and it cannot exist for long without a belief in a God that exists. With the ignorance of the teachings of Christ, this nation cannot expect to continue as a nation very long. This nation was built on those beliefs, whether you wish to believe that or not.
What we are missing here? Today’s Church is incapable of responding to the present moral crisis. It must reinvent itself, or face virtual oblivion by mid-21st century. We are missing that this world does not exist and go forward just for me me me. People we have got to start listening to what is going on and stop thinking that we should do what will feel good or sound good. Doing that will get us in a mess of trouble. Trouble that we are already knee-deep in. Trouble that is getting deeper all the time. And no amount of feel good, me, me, me, rhetoric is going to get rid of that trouble. Just like the War on Terror won’t go away if we just ignore it. The illegal immigration problem will not go away if we just ignore it. On both, the proof is in the pudding. We have got to stand up and start using the morals that we used to have, as a nation. We have got to stand up and use the commitment to freedoms, and belief in our country that we used to have…….mark my words people….if we do not…..then you can kiss this great nation goodbye. The time is quickly coming.
