It makes one wonder just where we are going…..

The Perfect Question

I have been listening to the news lately, and this post has nothing really to do with politics or democrats or republicans. I just want to ask everyone, just where is this country heading?

On the news here in Indiana, over the past few days has been a story of a couple who beat their infant girl to death with a belt. And in the weeks preceding her death, she was tortured by the parents.

Now here comes my question again. Just where are we going?

What is wrong with our country when we have parents torturing their little children, and then killing them with a belt?

The story went to trial today, with the parents going to court over this. It seems that Child Protective Services are the ones that really screwed up here. Months ago, these two parents were hauled in for abuse on the little girl, and the government took her away from them, only to give her back to them. NOW SHE IS DEAD! What in the heck is the problem with this country?

Growing up I don’t remember anything about parents killing their kids. Now I am sure that it happened, but I doubt if it happened with the intensity that it is happening now. And the problem here is people, that this horrible story of an infants death isn’t the only one. I hope they get the most that the law will give, with no chance of parole. Period! Killing that little girl was totally uncalled for.

And the problem is, that isn’t the only one that I have heard. There was also a story like that out of Georgia too. I don’t have the details on that one, but we have to get back to the moral and just America of the past, and get away from the PC crowd that is destroying this country. Stop believing the drive by media, and start listening to your common sense and your intelligence. Listen to your heart. Cause if we don’t, this violence that we are seeing will only be the beginning. Our futures will be a hell of violence. Mark my words on this people. If you don’t believe me, look back over the last few decades, and notice the increase in violence to the youngest and the most vulnerable in our society. We have to stop it. Turn back to God, or your higher power. Everyone has one. Look to your conscience and stop the bad we are doing to one another. And always remember, we need God’s blessings now more than ever.

And Tomorrow, I have a show planned at noon, eastern time at: Tired of all the Liberal Rhetoric Show Hope you come by and listen.

Illegal….what does that mean people?

We have a problem here in the United States people. I remember back in the day when someone said something, their word was their bond. What they said was what they meant. If something was against the law, you went to jail for breaking the law…..and if you failed in something, you failed. We all survived failing….and we all survived seeing someone who broke the law, get punished and get sent to jail. You ask me where the problem is now?

The problem is, the whinny people in charge and the ones who think they speak for the majority are now saying that if you break the law, it has to be because you had a bad childhood. You need therapy, not punishment. If the illegals break our laws by coming into our country by breaking our laws, it is only because they are looking for a better way of life and can find it here. When in all actuality people, they broke the law of the land to get here. They are criminals. They deserve to be prosecuted and punished for breaking our laws. But we have namby pamby politically correct bozos, who cry that we are showing discrimination towards them because they are foreigners and we don’t like them. The trouble is, that is not the truth. The truth is, they broke our laws. The deserve to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law like we would be if we did the same things.

This namby pambying of our country doesn’t just happen with the illegals. It is happening all over the place in almost every aspect of our lives.

Not long ago, when it came the the immigration thing, Harry Reid tried to force his plan to give Amnesty to all the illegals down our throats and the American people rose up in protest and shot it down. Then he tried to bury it inside another bill to hide it from us, and we shot it down again. Are the American people waking up finally? Yes, I think we are. But the only way that our waking up will work, is if we vote them out of office, one by one till they are all gone. And I mean all of them. From Harry Reid to Teddy Kennedy. From John McCain to John Kerry. Everyone who has been in an office for long enough that they think they are above listening to us the people. Why do you think that the first three words of the Constitution was WE THE PEOPLE? And why do you think those three words were so big? It was because We the people are the ones who are in charge. The politicians are only there to carry out our wishes…….NOT THEIRS! We need to start voting them out of office, unless they start listening to us. The PEOPLE.

You notice, that over the last week or so, Hillary has changed her tune because of the people speaking out against the things she was talking about? You notice that over the last week the governor of New York changed his stance on licenses for the illegals, because the people spoke up? You notice that John McCain has changed his stance on the War because the people have spoken up? There are more, and all of you have noticed, unless your in denial. The people have started to speak up, and hopefully they will continue to, because the Politicians in Washington have gotten too big for their own good. They have gotten too big for the good of the country. Things have to change, and soon. The change isn’t going to be easy, for anyone, but if we don’t get the changes made that have to be made, our country will fail. And I do not think that anyone wants that. Anyone that is an American that is.

I love America enough to go through what is needed to save her. Do you?

Welcome to America. Now Speak English!

I have added a new writer to the Tired of all the Liberal Rhetoric blog, and in this post wish to introduce her to you my readers. She has several other blogs of her own, one of which is linked to here in my bloglinks, called Poorgirls Zone. She has a great way of putting words together. Since I use blue to say what I want and my ideas here, thought she would like a color too, so her colors are RED. Anything in red is what she writes…… so here is her first post:

By Dwana

On Friday, November 9 the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) attempted to block a measure to bring tax relief legislation to the House floor. The legislation would spare most middle class taxpayers from the alternative minimum tax (AMT). Why would the CHC try to obstruct legislation that would benefit Hispanics as well as non-Hispanics? Why, to protest an English-only requirement added to it.

House Republicans added to the AMT spending bill a proposal withholding funds from any EEOC lawsuit against companies that require their employees to speak English on the job. The proposal stemmed, in part, from an EEOC suit against the Salvation Army in Farmingham, MA, which fired two employees for speaking Spanish at work. The employees had been given a year to learn English. They didn’t. House Dems failed to defeat the GOP proposal, sparking the CHC’s outrage.

Well, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus isn’t the only group that’s outraged. I and millions of other Americans are more than outraged at the continued assault on our nation’s sovereignty, culture, and language. We’ve had enough!

America is not an anti-poverty program or job market for Mexico. America is our country, our HOME. She has her own history, culture, and language that should be respected, like those of every other country. If foreigners want to be part of America they have to accept that history, embrace that culture, and speak that language. In a word, they have to assimilate. Why is that considered so wrong?

“It’s racist!” the usual suspects will shout. Joe Baca, chairman of the CHC, played the “R” card when he whined that “[Hispanics] are tired of the…hatred and racism” in the immigration debate. But just what did Baca mean by “racism”? If by that term he meant a people preserving their culture, beginning with the language thereof, then Baca, the CHC, La Raza, LULAC, and virtually all Hispanic immigrants and illegal aliens are guilty of racism. And guilty of cultural imperialism, too. Remember, they’re trying to preserve their culture and language not in their own country, mind you, but in SOMEONE ELSE’S country.

That “someone else’s country” is America. America and the liberties and rights her citizens enjoy are the product of a specific culture: Anglo-Protestantism. That culture, not Hispanic culture, not Islamic culture, not another European culture, but Anglo-Protestant culture is her foundation. It is the source, humanly speaking, of America’s much envied freedom and prosperity. The English language keeps us intimately connected to that source.

The United States was founded by English-speaking people. The country’s historical documents bear eloquent testimony to that.

The Mayflower Contract was written in English.

The Articles of Confederation were written in English.

The Declaration of Independence was written in English.

The Federalist Papers were written in English.

The Constitution was written in English.

Thomas Paine wrote his famous tract “The Rights of Man” in English.
Nathan Hale spoke his immortal words, “I regret that I have but one life to give for my country” in English.

Patrick Henry delivered his stirring cry, “Give me liberty or give me death!” in English. ………The list is endless.

Spanish had nothing to do with the birth or maturing of my great nation.

There is no right to be in America without becoming American. If you want this nation to be your home you have to assimilate. That’s not racist. In the 19th and 20th centuries millions of White immigrants were expected to assimilate and did.

Billy Wilder, who directed such classic films as “Double Indemnity” and “Sunset Boulevard”, fled Nazi Germany and began learning English immediately upon arriving in America. He didn’t sit around and whine that racist America wouldn’t hand him everything in his native language. Instead, he recognized that America wasn’t Germany and German no longer applied. Wilder adopted a new “native” language and soared to fame with it.

Joe Baca, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, LULAC, La Raza and the rest of the Latino mafia should pay close attention to the lesson of Billy Wilder. If they really want their people to progress here, they’ll vigorously push assimilation, especially learning English, and abandon their thinly veiled belief that being the largest minority gives Latinos a mandate to remake America in their image. It doesn’t. Our Anglo-Protestant heritage still stands. Without it there’d be no wealthy El Norte for Mexicans to run to, to avoid starvation. People who have what they have, only because they’re in America, owe this nation much more than this nation will ever owe them. Assimilation is their duty. And I welcome them to America. Now speak English!

Today was a good day, as I got to meet Glenn Beck…

Today was a busy day, starting out with me doing my Blog Talk Radio show which turned out fairly decently. I usually do my shows at noon on Saturdays, but today, I had to be in Castleton at that time, so I scheduled the show for 9 am.

Upon getting that done, I woke up my dear wife, and we got ready and headed off to Castleton, where the Barnes and Nobles Bookstore was featuring Glenn Beck on his Inconvenient Book tour, where they were selling his new book. I bought a copy and then got in line to have it signed by the man himself.

Glenn Beck at book signing

It was cool, as I got the book signed and got to talk to him for a bit, telling him that I quote him on my blog at times, and he thanked me. A very gracious and nice man. Afterwards, I found out that he was taking photos with the people, and Tammy *my wife* took a picture of me and Glenn. The trouble is, it was a great photo, but she shook the camera when she took it so it is sort of fuzzy, but I added it here anyway.

Glenn Beck and I at book signing

All-in-all it was a great day. I got his new book, and I love what I have read so far. Here is some of the stuff he has in the first chapter.

Great Ball of Fire

Have you noticed that from the time you wake up in the morning to the middle of the day, the globe seems to warm? Have you also noticed how that warming seems to correspond with that giant ball of light in the sky? It’s so weird!
Actually, many scientists do believe the activity of the sun is at an 8,000 year high over the past 60 years and may very well be at least partially responsible for the recent warming trend……

I read a bunch of the book and read where Stephen King said he was “Satan’s mentally challenged younger brother.”, and Al Franken said “Glenn Beck shouldn’t be on [the air].” And Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., said, “Glenn Beck is CNN’s chief corporate-fascism advocate.” I kind of wonder if Robert F. Kennedy even knows what a fascist is. I really don’t think that Glenn is a fascist in any way….except maybe he doesn’t believe as the Liberals do. But then again, if that makes him a fascist, then I am too, and so is Rush, and so is Sgt Freedom, and all the other Conservatives out there. Maybe we should start a Conservative Fascist group. HuH????

The wrong ones were pardoned….

Blog Directory, Find A Blog, Submit A Blog, Search For The Best Blogs

I was listening to this today, and the first thing that came to my mind was the two border guards that are serving sentences of 11 and 12 years because they shot an illegal immigrant who at the time was trying to smuggle drugs into the United States. Now that same illegal has been arrested for doing the same thing again. Smuggling drugs into the US.

President Bush pardoned the two birds on Tuesday in the annual tradition that dates back to the Truman administration.
In the Rose Garden ceremony, Bush said the participants in a White House Web poll had picked “May” and “Flower” as the turkeys’ names, and in turn ribbed his No. 2.
“They’re certainly better than the names the vice president suggested — which is ‘Lunch’ and ‘Dinner,” Bush said.

The two former border guards, Ramos and Compean, are now going to prison for essentially doing their jobs, trying to stop illegal immigration and drug smuggling. Then I read something else that just made me sick.

by Phyllis Schlafly January 3, 2007

President George W. Bush pardoned 16 criminals including five drug dealers at Christmastime, but so far has refused to pardon the two U.S. Border Patrol agents who were trying to defend Americans against drug smugglers. It makes us wonder which side the self-proclaimed “compassionate” President is on.
Border Patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean were guarding the Mexican border near El Paso on February 17, 2005 when they intercepted a van carrying 743 pounds of marijuana. For what happened next, they were convicted and sentenced under a statute that was designed to impose heavy punishment on criminal drug smugglers caught in the commission of a crime.
The two agents are scheduled to start 11- and 12-year prison terms, respectively, on January 17, for the crime of putting one bullet in the buttocks of the admitted drug smuggler, Osvaldo Aldrete-Davila, and failing to report the discharge of their firearms. The non-fatal bullet didn’t stop the smuggler from running to escape in a van waiting for him on the Mexican side of the border.
Rep. Dana Rohrabacher called the two agents heroes. “Because of their actions, more than a million dollars in illegal drugs were stopped from being sold to our children. Bringing felony charges against them is a travesty of justice beyond description.”
The White House and the U.S. Department of Justice are stonewalling requests for a presidential pardon from 55 Members of Congress and U.S. citizens who have sent at least 160,000 petitions and 15,000 faxes. When the Bush Administration deigns to respond at all, the official line is that the Border Patrol agents got a fair trial.
But that’s not true; they didn’t get a fair trial. They were convicted because the Justice Department sent investigators into Mexico, tracked down the drug smuggler, and gave him immunity from all prosecution for his drug smuggling crimes if he would please come back and testify against Ramos and Compean.
It was massively unfair to give immunity to an illegal alien narcotics trafficker while destroying the lives and families of two Border Patrol agents who risked their lives to stop him. Ramos and Compean were convicted mainly on the testimony of the immunity-sheltered drug smuggler, whose integrity should have been called into question, but Ramos and Compean were forbidden to do that during the trial.
The prosecutor even tried to get Ramos and Compean convicted of attempted murder! The jury acquitted them of that outlandish charge, but the government still asked for a sentence of 20 years for the other counts on which they were convicted.

We expect our military and our police and our border guards to do what they were hired to do, but when they do, we throw them in prison. And the problem is, the prisons are full of illegal immigrants who have broken the law. Throw a couple of border guards in there, and what do you think will happen? You guessed it. this story is from the WorldNetDaily on February 6th:

The Department of Justice has confirmed imprisoned former Border Patrol agent Ignacio “Nacho” Ramos – sentenced to 11 years in the shooting of a drug smuggler – was treated for injuries after reporting he was beaten in a medium-security facility in Mississippi.
Monica Ramos embraces her husband, former U.S. Border Patrol agent Ignacio Ramos, two days before he was sentenced to 11 years in prison (Courtesy El Paso Times)
WND received a statement issued by the agency citing Charles Smith, spokesman for the Federal Correctional Complex in Yazoo City, Miss.
Smith said that at about 10:15 p.m. Saturday, Ramos “reported to staff that he had been assaulted.”
“Mr. Ramos was evaluated by medical staff at the institution who determined he had sustained some bruises and abrasions. The injuries sustained were minor in nature.”
However, Ramos’s wife and father-in-law told WND the former agent said in phone calls to them the assailants “got me pretty good,” explaining he was assaulted by five Hispanic men with steel-toed boots – likely illegal aliens – who cussed him out in Spanish.
“They kicked me in the head, they kicked me all over the body. I’m all bruised and very sore,” Ramos reportedly said, adding he bled from his left ear.
Ramos, Smith said, then “was placed in the Special Housing Unit pending a thorough investigation of the incident. He will remain in the Special Housing Unit until the conclusion of this investigation. No further information is available at this time.”

Now I have to ask. Is this right? No it isn’t. We want people to man our borders but we let the government walk all over the ones that do with disdain? Give me a break.

Former U.S. Border Patrol agent Ignacio Ramos, and Jose Compean should be released and have the charges against them dropped. President Bush pardoned others….why not these two?

“It does not take a stethoscope to hear the pulse of New Yorkers…”

The title to this is part of a quote from New York Governor Eliot Spitzer, and I have to agree, though it seems that the Liberals in our government do not hear that stethoscope, but instead only hear the sledge hammer that gets slammed down on their heads when the people speak and they do not listen. Now you all know what I feel about the New York Slimes. But this article came from that slimy paper:

Spitzer Drops Bid to Offer Licenses More Widely

WASHINGTON, Nov. 14 — Gov. Eliot Spitzer formally announced today that he would abandon his plan to give driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants, conceding that his best efforts to sell New Yorkers on the merits of his proposal had clearly failed. Oh REALLY??? Does that mean that he got the message that the people didn’t want that?
The decision ends a bitter seven-week battle over the proposed policy that battered Mr. Spitzer and his fellow Democrats and drew national attention from critics of illegal immigration.
“It does not take a stethoscope to hear the pulse of New Yorkers on this topic,” Mr Spitzer said, standing with a half-dpzen members of New York’s congressional delegation who had supported his original move to give licenses to illegal immigrants.
In acknowledging one of his first major reversals as governor, Mr. Spitzer hit a few familiarly pugilistic notes, lashing into critics who, Mr. Spitzer said, “equated minimum-wage, undocumented dishwashers with Osama bin Laden.” He also said he still believed his proposal would have benefited New Yorkers, citizens and immigrants alike, and lit into federal officials for failing to fix the nation’s immigration system at the national level.
But Mr. Spitzer, who once dismissed a critic of his proposal as “factually wrong, legally wrong, morally wrong, ethically wrong,” was more conciliatory today, saying that leadership was “not solely about doing what one thinks is right.”
“I am here today to respond to the vast majority of New Yorkers of good will who have heard my best case and yet still disagree with my proposal,” Mr. Spitzer said.

Now that article, to me, shows several things. One is that no matter what, he still thinks that he is right, and the people are wrong, and two, he realizes where his power has come from….*something that most politicians do not know it seems*.

The problem here is, I see something on the lines of what Harry Reid did with the amnesty bill that he tried to force down our throats, and found out that the American people didn’t want it…..after getting his bill beat, he came back with a different version of it, in the dream act where they repackaged it and tried to force it down our throats again. I feel that Governor Spitzer will do the same thing again…..repackaging it and trying to push it through again.

People, the Liberals, do not get it. And like I have said before, I really do not consider Liberals Democrats, as we can have Liberals who are Republicans, Libertarians and Independents. I just think that Liberals, no matter what their political affiliation, is wrong. they cannot accept defeat, and they cannot accept that they are wrong. If you do not believe me, then you need to go back a few years, maybe back to 2001, and go over the things that say, Hellary Clinton has said about the War on Terror, and you should notice that over the years she has waffled back and forth on her stance, depending on what she feels the polls are saying. John Kerry has done the same things….on almost everything. Teddy Kennedy has too. So has Palosi, and Durbin. Take your pick…then check out everything they have said on one subject, and you will see their flip flops on what they talk about. Sometimes going 180° out of phase. “Here rests an American soldier, known but to God”

Tired of the Liberal Rhetoric Show

Tomb of the Unknowns

The inscription says: “Here rests, In Honored Glory, an American soldier, known but to God.” That is the inscription on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The Tomb of the Unknowns, near the center of the cemetery, is one of Arlington’s most popular tourist sites.

The Tomb contains the remains of unknown American soldiers from World Wars I and II, the Korean Conflict and (until 1998) the Vietnam War. Each was presented with the Medal of Honor at the time of interment and the medals, as well as the flags which covered their caskets, are on display inside the Memorial Amphitheater, directly to the rear of the Tomb.

The Tomb is guarded 24-hours-per-day and 365-days-per year by specially trained members of the 3rd United States Infantry (The Old Guard).

The Memorial Amphitheater has been the scene of the funerals of some prominent Americans (such as General John J. “Black Jack” Pershing) as well as the site of both Memorial Day and Veterans Days celebrations.

On this day, in which we are to celebrate the heroics of these brave men, who, though unknown to us, are a big part of this day that honors the courage of the fighting American soldier.

Each man, laid to rest at the Tomb was awarded the Metal of Honor, something that lately seems to be a bad thing when it comes to the drive by media….like papers that we all know and have heard of…..the New York Slimes, etc. And even Fox news did something today during the Ceremony, when some names were named in the address, the commentators, instead of keeping quiet to hear what the speaker was saying, they spoke over the top of the speaker.

This day is a day of honoring the soldiers and fighting men of our great country, and they are, as Lt. Col. Doug Trenda (Ret), said, ‘We need soldiers that see their service as an affair of the heart.’ We need to honor these men who left their families for a year, or more, or forever. Who went out to fight for our rights. For the rights of stupid people to be stupid. (Which they have been exhibiting a lot lately.) For the rights of our politicians to be idiots. (Also, exhibiting a lot of that lately.) And, for our rights to be free.

We need to keep the fires of the home front burning and let our troops know that we support them and their mission. We need to thank our Veterans. Not only for the war we are in now, but also the Vietnam war, Korean War, World War II and I, Grenada, and any other war we have had to fight in.

Our soldiers need our love and support, not what they are getting from our government or the liberals. Now I am not saying Liberals are always Democrats. There are liberals in every walk of life. There are Republicans who are liberals. Liberalism has been proven not to ever work. So why do we keep trying to push it forward?

Being a Conservative therefore, does not necessarily mean that you are a Republican. There are conservative Democrats, Libertarians and Independents.

This country is at a crossroads in our history, and we need to change the direction that the ACLU and the Liberals are leading us towards…..God bless America people….God Bless Us All. Those of us who live, have to make the sacrifice of those who didn’t make it, worth the cost. As Vice President Cheney said today…..“may we never take them for granted.”

What real bravery is….

Real bravery is something that not all people have. Real bravery is something that not all people know about. The armchair generals in Washington DC either do not have it, or they have lost it along the way. John Murtha and John Kerry are two that that statement applies to. Both are vets, though I feel that Mr. Kerry never had true bravery.

I found an article on a site for Mr. William Russell, who is running for Congress from the state of Pennsylvania, running against John Murtha. The page on his site: William Russell for Congress and once there, click on the link named Flight 93 Tribute, which is on the left side of the page, and the article is called Turning the tide, a Tribute to the Passengers of Flight 93. This is a stirring remembrance of what happened on September 11, 2001, by someone who was there.

Here is the story from that page:

Tribute to the Passengers of Flight 93

I would like to pay tribute to those who gave their lives on board Flight 93, as they turned the tied in the fateful battle that occurred in the skies over New York, Washington DC and western Pennsylvania six years ago. I also want to express my deep and personal thanks to the families of those heroes as my family and I personally benefited from their bravery. Much has been written and several movies have already been made depicting the terror and b ravery of the passengers of Flight 93. I would like to focus on what they accomplished in those few minutes of exquisite bravery.

I was in the Pentagon when Flight 77 impacted the building. I was attending a meeting in office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense located on the 2nd floor of the B Ring, between the 4th and 5th Corridors. I was there as a staff officer to attend an emergency meeting to discuss military support to the civil authorities of New York City following the impacts of the two airplanes into the World Trade Center Towers. Although Flight 77 impacted the E ring between the 4th and 5th corridors, and the cockpit ended up 50 meters out and one floor down from the office I was in, I believed it had impacted on the far side of the building where my wife Kasia, who was pregnant with our son Stasiu at the time, was working in the CVS Pharmacy. I remember my boss, COL Joe Robinson, handing me a note to carry to then BG, Chiarelli and I handed it back to him and told him that I was going to CVS. As I ran around the A ring on my way to the Metro entrance concourse I was worried that I might not be able to get to Kasia and praying that she was okay, and wondering what I would do when I got there. As I arrived at the Metro entrance the Pentagon Police were busy evacuating the building and ensuring all the tourists and workers in the area got out. I met Kasia on the concourse just in front of the pharmacy. She asked me what had happened and what she should do because they were told to leave the store and to not take the time to lock the pharmacy. I told her that either a bomb or a plane had hit the building and that she should go home but that I had to stay.

I watched Kasia go down the Metro escalator after a quick kiss and ” I love you”. As I ran back towards the Army Operations Center off the end of the 7th corridor, I was haunted by the thought of a secondary device aimed at the first responders and evacuees of the from the first attack, which was a common terrorist tactic employed in Lebanon. It was seven more hours before I could confirm that Kasia had made the trip home safely by the graces and a ride from a kind lady who remains unknown.

I returned to the Army Operations Center where the staff was confirming the our communications with the National Military Command Center, Army Commands throughout the world, other government agencies and ensuring that we would not have to evacuate our section of the building.

After about two hours our communications were confirmed and there were no messages indicating other attacks outside of the Pentagon and New York. We received word that the medical personnel were running out of supplies at the triage site they had set up near the Pentagon Athletic Center off the 8th corridor of the Pentagon.

I gathered up some first aid kits and made my way out to the 8th corridor. When I arrived outside, I could see approximately 5000 people and was once again haunted by the thought of secondary attacks. In the chaos, I saw people gathered around, helping evacuate and treat the injured and many others trying to stay out of the way but wanting to help and refusing to abandon their friends and coworkers. But out of that chaos, order was slowly emerging. The medical personnel were leading the triage efforts, the injured were being transported, and a group was being organized to go back into the center court yard to assist the Arlington County Fire fighters as stretcher bearers. I passed off most of the larger items in the first aid kits to the medical personnel working on the most serious cases and treated two minor burns and cuts myself. People were using their personally owned vehicles to transport wounded to the hospitals as the ambulances were either in use or stuck in the snarled traffic.

I joined the group of stretcher bearers and we moved back into the building and down the 8th corridor to the center court yard. The stretcher bearers ranged in rank from COLs and Majors on down to junior enlisted and DoD Civilians and contractors all acting as one team to support the brave fire fighters inside the building looking for other injured and fighting the fire. The man in charge of the triage effort in the courtyard was an Air Force Lieutenant General, whose name I do not recall. But I remember him telling us the President had ordered all planes to land but there was still one plane unaccounted for and it was possibly bound for Washington.

I will not tell you that I did not feel a few moments of deep fear in the time it took to distinguish the difference between the roar of the F-16s establishing the air cap over our nation’s capital and that of another inbound jet liner.

But the only air plane sounds were coming from those F-16s and our rescue efforts continued unabated. This was because of those brave souls who, upon learning the fate of three other flights on that beautiful clear morning, determined that they would not go quietly into the night.

Call it fate or the hand of God, but it is fitting that their heroic actions which turned the tide of battle that day should take place in the skies over, and end on the ground that is Pennsylvania. This state has long been the host for many of the turning points in our history which have defined our national character.

The first turning point came during the French and Indian War in 1755 on a road, now covered by Highway 40 in Fayette County. Shortly after chastising a young volunteer Colonial Officer serving under his Command for daring to advise him on tactical practices, British General Edward Braddock found his column ambushed by the French Colonials and their native allies. After Braddock was mortally wounded, it was that young Colonial Officer by the name of George Washington who helped carry him off the field and assumed command, directing the battle and saving the British Regular and Colonial Armies from destruction.

In 1776 it was in the city of Philadelphia where our founding fathers signed the Declaration of Independence pledging their lives and fortunes, and sacred Honor that this nation might be free. Later that year, it was to Valley Forge where Washington led his nearly defeated and disintegrating Army into winter quarters. As he watched his Army whither while the Continental Congress dithered on whether or not to provide the necessary funding to. Soldiers who were boiling rocks and leaves for sustenance and shoeing their feet with rags. Recognizing that support for independence was declining and that the Army would disintegrate if he did not turn the tide, Washington led his Army back across the ice choked Deleware River on Christmas night to seize the Hessian Garrison at Trenton and turned the tide on the long road toward victory and full independence which came six years later.

Philadelphia again became the site of the where the course of this nation was set in 1789as the founding fathers crafted that magnificent Constitution that has given this country, still one of the youngest on the face of the Earth, what is today the oldest functioning Constitution in the world.

Seventy four years later, on a hill to south of Gettysburg, an abolitionist college professor, Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain, with only a year of military training was in command of the remaining soldiers of the 20th Maine, which had been devastated by disease and the carnage at Fredericksburg. The 20th Maine was located on the far left flank of the Union Forces. Minutes after arriving at their position, they withstood the first of three fierce attacks from the Texans and Alabamans commanded by John Bell Hood. After the third attack, the men of the 20th were almost completely out of ammunition. Colonel Chamberlain recognized that they could not hold off another attack, nor could he withdraw as either option would collapse the Union flank and leave the Nation’s Capital undefended. Faced with a hopeless situation, this barely trained soldier chose to order his men to fix bayonets and charge the confederate forces as they began their fourth assault. In doing so, the 20th Maine turned the tide of the battle that day, causing Lee to order Pickett’s Charge the next day. The Battle of Gettysburg became the turning point of that war which ultimately proved that a nation founded in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal, could long endure.

It was on board that plane over Western Pennsylvania six years ago that a group of passengers, untrained in anti-terrorism tactics or aircraft operations, recognized the face of terror and smacked it in the nose. They could not get off the plane and they could not remain in their seats and knew that their Nation’s Capital or some other city would remain undefended. They made the decision to charge their hijackers and determined that their captors would not inflict additional harm on this nation. Whether Flight 93 was bound for the White House, the Capital Building, or the crowds of responders and evacuees at the Pentagon, those heroes turned the tide of battle that day and diverted what could have easily been the most devastating of the terrorist blows on that day.

On a very personal level, they guaranteed safe passage for my family that day. For this, my family and I extend to those heroes, and their families who had to endure their, loss our deepest gratitude.

Thank you.

William T Russell

Now people, isn’t that a great tribute to the brave souls who lost their life trying to stop the terrorists that day? September 11, 2001 is a memory, that I hope none of us let die.

On that morning we lost 3,000 of our citizens to a senseless attack on the American homeland, in a way that had never been done before, changing forever how we look at the ways we could be attacked. More Americans died that day than on 12/07/1941, the day that will live in infamy, the day that took us into World War II. It is for that reason alone that we should never ever forget, and not forget the weaknesses that we have, so we can fix them or shore them up, so another attack on our home soil will never happen. And the plans for these attacks are out there. Mark my words folks. We need to beware people. Be not complacent.

This week, maybe the last surviving member of the most important event of WW2 died at 92 years young. The bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. In three days two Japanese cities were destroyed and over 150,000 men, women, and children died.
In all during WW2 nearly 300,000 US military personnel died and it’s said that over 55 million men, women and children died world wide from 1939 to August 1945. Included in this is over 6 million Jews. Remember their are some world leaders and some of your fellow Americans who refuse to admit the holocaust happened.

We may never know how many more would have died, if we hadn’t made the hard decision to bomb the Japanese into surrender. General Tibbit’s, until his death believed his mission right or wrong to many, was a mission to save lives.

Today people say we can’t use history to see the future, I and others say if we don’t, we’re destined to relive it yet again very soon.

Our President this week was called mad, because he dared to say a fight with Iran would be paramount to WW3. Personally I say we’re in WW 3 right now. This week we have senators who refuse to confirm President Bush’s choice to the cabinet post of Attorney General because he refuses to call water boarding torture.
To me ANYTHING we have to do, to prevent, one more LIFE from being forfeited, is worthy of the means of how it is gotten.

Please remember WAR IS HELL, WW2 and today’s War on Terror were brought to us, we didn’t bring it to them. They shot the first shot so to speak. As we in WW2 did not back down, hopefully we will not back down now. We will not stop fighting until we have won Victory.
