It seems that we as Americans are slow to learn lessons of the past, and just when we finally learn them, we find out that we have forgotten them altogether.
I remember, growing up when Veteran’s Day came along, it was celebrated with much enthusiasm, but now, we have people who want to get rid of it.
When I was growing up, Sundays were for church and family. Now, it’s just another day.
December 7th, 1941, to everyone meant a “a day that will live in infamy” when Pearl Harbor was attacked by the Japanese. This year, if I hadn’t listened to talk radio, with Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Neal Boortz, the day would have passed with no mention of it. Sad, huh?
Today is less than six (6) years after America was brutally attacked on September 11, 2001, and all I ever hear anymore is how we are bogged down with the war, and how we are losing, and how we have lost more soldiers than we had killed on that fateful day. How we need to get out of the war.
Well folks, I have a big problem with your way of thinking on this, and it is true, in the past this kind of thinking did nothing to our security…..or did it?
In this last 100 years, warfare has changed completely in the way that it is fought and won. But, the resulting end HAS to be the same. Unfortunately, it isn’t.
Before the 1900’s, when a war was fought, both sides lost something, but the losing side lost everything! That was the reason that there was some semblance of order in the world then. It was simple. There were the Conquerors, and then there were the Conquered.
But starting with World War I, the conquereors were no longer the new law of the conquered land. They had become the REBUILDERS. And NOT rebuilding in their image as conquerors must, but simply rebuilding what was there previously. If after World War I, we had acted like conquerors instead of coddlers, Hitler may never have had his death camps. Millions of Jews may not have been exterminated. (A fact that people in charge today are doing their best to convince everyone, never happened.) In other words, Lessons learned, lessons forgotten.
There was a great quote, that I always heard when growing up, that said, “If you don’t learn from your mistakes, you are doomed to repeat them.”
People, the problem with repeating them today, is we are not as superior in weaponry as we once were, and the world against us learned all too well about our weakness in Vietnam. And our weakness is, you ask?
I am glad that you asked, because I have the answer.
We have been conditioned by 30 second sound bites, and 30 minute to 60 minute programs, and 2 1/2 hour movies in that all the problems of life are solved. People, real life just doesn’t work that way, no matter what Hollywood tries to tell you.. Problems in real life take Committment and Time. Something that we as Americans have a lot of trouble with, and the problem is, our enemies know this only too well. And yes, Virginia, we have enemies! At this point in time, we have enemies all over the world, and the problem is, we are trying to coddle them and make them happy.
Folks, our enemies are a lot like the Liberals. They will NOT be happy until the America as we knew it is destroyed.
Our enemies hate us and want nothing more than the destruction of the United States. And that, people, includes you and I, our neighbors, and our friends. And it doesn’t matter what we believe Politically or Religiously. If you are Americans, they want you dead!
And don’t you think they do not see how easy we are making it for people to come here illegally and be accepted! If I was a terrorist, that would be my way in. And I would be completely amazed if there aren’t some already here in the millions that have already arrived illegally. And it is now being politically passed off as impossible to round them all up, so they are proposing amnesty for them by both the Democrats and the Republicans. Come on people! Can’t we learn from our past mistakes, and stop making them now?
It sure seems like the answer to that question is NO, which puts us right back on the Yellow Brick Road to oblivian! Only this time, it is real, and not a fantasy.
God Bless America….
God Bless our Troops….
God Bless my Readers.
