Everyone is a capitalist when the economy is good. Americans who are not determined conservatives become socialists when it isn’t. And even some of our conservative brothers and sisters fall prey to it in the tough times.

Sorry. I’m taking a class right now on voters in America. I don’t see much hope for a principled counter to this. I’m praying we get through all this without too much damage, because there is no principle that Americans as a whole will cling to when their 401Ks are dissolving.

We can be right all we want. It doesn’t matter if the people are panicky.
