I have been hearing the rumblings of a truckers strike, and being a driver myself, I see the driving manners of truckers all the time. One is this. When I drive I do pretty much the speed limit. Usually truckers pass me like I am standing still. Yesterday though, I drove about 3 miles over the speed limit all day, and I was passing truckers, all day. My idea on this is…..YOU GO TRUCKERS…AND FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT…AS I AND MANY MANY AMERICANS ARE BEHIND YOU 100% I hope that the truckers carry through with this.
Fuel prices are ridiculously high right now and need to come down ….. a lot. A trucker, with a 100 gallon tank can easily put 1200 dollars of fuel into their tanks with just one fill up. Can many of you say you make 1200 in one paycheck? I know I can’t and I am making decent money.
The problem here is, it is mostly only the independent truckers who are doing the striking…..and the speeds of most of the truckers on the freeways around Indianapolis today were back to normal. So, I guess that they sort of gave up, or most have decided not do to this. If you wish to have a truckers perspective on what this is doing to them with the cost of fuel, you can email my best friend, who is an independent trucker out of Kansas. His name is Larry, and you can ask him questions ab out the problems of the high cost of fuel if you want, by emailing him at: larrydeb2003@yahoo.com.
The problem we have here people, is the fact that the American people have really had it very good for the last 20 or so years, and most of us can’t conceive of having any bad times at all. And the situation that we are finding ourselves in now is this: We are heading for bad times. And it isn’t because of Bush, or anything. But the government is doing everything it can, to make this bad time worse than it has to be and longer than it has to be.
Bailing out companies in trouble or homeowners in trouble is only adding to the problems. The democrats can’s seem to realize, that people make mistakes, and that there are consequences to every action. They want to take the consequences away. Even the consequences of pregnancies, as was outlined by the idiot Obama the other day, when he stated that teenage pregnancies are a mistake. I disagree. A pregnancy is never a mistake, it is a gift from God. It may come at times it isn’t desired, but none the less it is still a blessing.
The other thing that they and the government do not seem to realize or grasp, is the reality that every economy goes through downtimes about every 10 years or so.
We have really been fortunate and have had a bull run for about 20 now. We are long overdue for a recession, and doing what the government is doing to keep it from coming, is just going to make it come harder and last longer.
But back to this truckers strike. I praise everyone of them that do this…..as this needs to be done.
The truckers in this nation really run the nations’ economy, in more ways that we can imagine. Without fudging on their log books, shipments would NOT get to their destinations in the times that is being required of them. If the truckers would slow down, stop fudging on their log books and maybe even drive at 45 or the slowest minimum on the highways, America would feel the crunch almost immediately. And, if they stuck to their guns on this…fuel prices would drop because none would get to the markets to be sold. Hard times would befall all of us for a while…but good things come out of sacrifices, and the American people are so soft now that they can’t conceive of sacrificing anything. Here is the problem with this. If we do not sacrifice now, we will suffer later, and for a much longer time. We need to stick to our guns and sacrifice for the good of the country. Because the time is coming when it will be forced on us if we don’t do something now. The truckers started it, and GOD bless them for it. I pray that God gives them the strength to continue with the good fight.

The truckers run the economy? Gee, Geraldo Rivera has been telling us it was the illegal aliens!
God bless the truckers. I hope the stay the course! (And I guess I’d better go buy me one of those Topsy Turvy thingees so I can grow my own veggies).
What do you suppose this “trucker’s strike” will accomplish? The price of diesel isn’t being set by some conspiracy among the oil companies; it’s the result of supply and demand.
Any measure that doesn’t either increase the supply of oil or reduce the demand will have no effect on the prices of petroleum products.
Its too bad independent truckers don’t have an effective union to be able to project their power in order to get some bargaining ability.
As a lifelong worker who was never in a union, I actually ended up working in one of america’s largest companies that has a union. We are one of the last few companies in the US that actually has some benefits left.
I feel strongly that truckers should be better compensated, but thats inconsistent with your suport of a political regime that supports big business and the rich only.
Go ahead and call yourself a conservative if that makes you feel good. But republican policies have driven down the value of the dollar, driven the price of fuel through the roof, in addition to the trillions that will eventually be spent in relation to the Iraq war.
There’s one comment that I can make with a high level of assurance. If you support the Bush Administration, you arent’ a fiscal conservative. If you support the Bush Administration, you probably also support corporate socialism and war profiteering.
